Which initial goes on a monogrammed cutting board?
For a married couple, tradition uses the shared last-name initial as the large center letter — "The Williamses" become a big W, often with first names or "est." date around it. For a single-person gift, it's simply their last initial. If the couple keeps different last names, skip the single letter and choose a two-name layout instead. Unsure? Is a monogram board a good wedding gift if I don't know their "established" date?
Yes — the date is optional on every design. Most wedding gifters use the wedding date itself; for an engagement or bridal shower, you can leave it off or use the year. If you realize after ordering that you got a name or date wrong, that's exactly what the preview step is for — nothing is engraved until you approve it.
Can I put a monogram on any wood or board shape?
All of them. Monograms are bold, clean designs, so they engrave beautifully on every wood we carry — including live edge olive wood, where detailed engravings like recipes would get lost in the grain. If you want the board to be used daily rather than displayed, maple and walnut are the workhorses.
What's the difference between a monogrammed and a personalized cutting board?
A monogram is one specific style of personalization — initial-led, traditional, tidy. Personalized cutting boards is the broader collection: full names, handwriting, recipes, photos, logos.
