WHY CHARCUTERIE BOARDS
The centerpiece that gets passed around
A charcuterie board does its work in front of an audience — which is exactly why a name or date engraved into it lands so well. The live edge olive wood boards are cut from the tree's natural shape, each with its own curves and grain; maple, cherry, and walnut give you the classic tailored look; and bamboo sets hide a drawer of serving knives and accessories inside the board itself. Simple, bold personalization — names, dates, a single initial — suits the dramatic grains best, while lighter woods can carry more detailed designs. Gifting for entertaining rather than cooking? This is the collection. For daily-use boards, see personalized cutting boards.
QUESTIONS
Personalized charcuterie boards, answered
Will my board look exactly like the one in the photo?
Close, but never identical — and that's the appeal. Live edge olive wood boards are shaped by the tree, so every board differs slightly in outline, grain, and figure, and dimensions can vary up to an inch from the listed size. You're not buying a factory shape; you're buying the only board with that grain in existence, with their name on it.
Can I choose the exact board that gets engraved?
Yes. If the natural variation matters to you — say you want especially dramatic grain, or the straightest edge for a gift — talk to us via chat or email before or right after ordering. We'll photograph boards from the current batch on the production floor and let you pick the one we engrave.
Which side of a live edge board is the bark on?
The underside. The engraved serving face is smooth, finished wood; the natural bark edge sits on the bottom, so the board lies flat and stable while keeping its raw, from-the-tree silhouette.
What should I have engraved on a charcuterie board?
Match the design to the wood. On olive wood and walnut, bold and simple reads best — a family name with an established date, a couple's names, a single-letter monogram. On maple, cherry, and bamboo, the lighter surface keeps finer detail crisp, so more intricate designs work too. Either way, you'll approve a free preview before we engrave.
Do the boards come with cheese knives?
Several do. Our bamboo charcuterie sets have a slide-out drawer built into the board holding the knives and serving accessories; the olive wood sets pair with matching knives on holders or magnetic stands. If you'd rather build the gift up further, our charcuterie gift boxes pack a personalized board, knives, and gourmet extras into one ready-to-give box.
Should a charcuterie board have a juice groove?
For pure charcuterie serving, a flat board is the classic pick — no groove means maximum arranging space for meats, cheeses, and crackers. A grooved board earns its place when the board will double as a carving or cutting board between parties, catching juices from roasts and fruit. Smaller flat boards and the handled boards make especially natural serving pieces.
