Our Wood Standards
We grade every board by hand.
Not all wood is created equal. We inspect, sort, and grade every board before it becomes a Forest Decor product — and only the best make the cut.
See How We GradeOrder from our website or place a corporate order, and you’ll never receive less than Grade A.
Materials
Where our wood comes from
Tunisia & Italy
Olive Wood
From century-old trees that no longer bear fruit. Bold, swirling grain makes every piece one of a kind — especially our live-edge boards. Traditional cut sizes available for a consistent look.
USA & Canada
Maple, Cherry & Walnut
Milled domestically, durable and timeless. Maple is light and clean, cherry adds warm reddish tones, walnut brings rich dark grain — all with consistent sizing for a polished, uniform look.
Narrow-grain select
Bamboo
We select narrow-grain bamboo for a smooth, elegant finish — rare among makers, most of whom use wide-grain to cut costs. Eco-friendly and refined.
Quality control
Wood grades, explained
We cut seven to ten olive wood boards for every one that qualifies as Grade A.
Grade A
Strong, vivid grain across most of the board. No cracks, minimal imperfections. Reserved exclusively for our retail and corporate customers.
Grade B
Mostly nice grain; may have slight cracks, partial bark, or unevenness. Sold to wholesale accounts at trade pricing.
Grade C
Noticeable cracks and a rustic look. Sold discounted for craft and clearance use.
We never mix grades in corporate orders — and you’ll never receive less than Grade A when ordering from our website. As far as we know, we’re the only US workshop grading and stocking Grade A olive wood boards at volume.

Nothing wasted
Sustainability & respect for the material
We use every part of the tree. Lower-grade boards are never thrown away — they’re:
- Sold to wholesale customers
- Repurposed for internal use
- Offered as budget-friendly options for craft and rustic projects
Our finishing oils are food-safe and eco-friendly. And by making gifts that last, we reduce the need for replacements — and the waste that comes with them.
